![]() Roy Everett Call Roy was born on 27 February 1894 in Achilles, Rawlins County, Kansas.1 He was the son of George Washington Ilsey Call and Mary Jane Mason. Roy, age 20 married Vera Ruth Partz, age 18 on 21 January 1915. ![]() Alexander Call Possibly Alexander but not a postive identification of him. Alexander was born on 2 May 1822 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Grandfer Call. Alexander, age 20 married Sarah Ann Hurrell, age 21 on 19 March 1843 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.2 Alexander was a glass blower in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.3 He was a gold prospector. He was one of the '49ers and made two trips to California. One trip was in a wagon train and with horse. Second time he went by way of Cape Horn. He wore a gold watch fob made from pannings. (No proof of the 49er activity is known. It is family folklore) He had when old a full white beard and sang with the grandchildren and loved to rock them. He built his own coffin and kep it in the middle of the room. Made of dark mahogany and polished smooth. Showed it to everyone. (The coffin story is confirmed by several who knew him.). 1850 Federal population census Enumeration date: on 30 September 1850 at South Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Head of Family: Alexand Call (age 29), occupation: puddler, born in Ohio wife, Sarah A Call (age 29),. George W Call (age 7), was listed as a household member. The official date of this census was 1 June 1850.4 Alexander was an iron puddler in 1850 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.5 Alexander and Sarah moved in 1857 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Scott County, Iowa. There is disagreement about who is shown in a photograph. Some say it is GWI and Mary Jane Call and others say it is Alexander and Sarah Ann Call. Alexander and Sarah celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary on 19 March 1893 in Achilles, Rawlins County, Kansas.8 Alexander became a widower at age 73 with the death of Sarah in June 1895 in Achilles, Rawlins County, Kansas. On 16 June 1899 Alexander died at age 77 in Achilles, Rawlins County, Kansas.9 Alexander was buried in Achilles Cemetery in Achilles, Rawlins County, Kansas.10,11

Sarah was born on 15 November 1821 in Pennsylvania.1 Sarah married, at age 21, Alexander Call, age 20, son of Grandfer Call, on 19 March 1843 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.2 Sarah was listed as Alexand's wife on the 1850 Census recorded 30 September 1850 in South Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.3 Sarah and Alexander moved in 1857 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Scott County, Iowa. Sarah and Alexander moved in 1868 from Scott County, Iowa to Albia, Monroe County, Iowa. Sarah and Alexander moved in April 1869 from Monroe County, Iowa to Sherman Township, Putnam County, Missouri. Sarah was listed as A's wife on the 1880 Census recorded 1 June 1880 in Putnam County, Missouri.4 Sarah and Alexander moved on 1 July 1880 from near St. John in Sherman Township, Putnam County, Missouri to Erving Township, Jewell County, Kansas. Sarah and Alexander were owners of a quarter section of land in 1884 in Jewell County, Kansas.5 Sarah and Alexander moved circa 1890 from a farm in Erving Township, Jewell County, Kansas to Achilles, Rawlins County, Kansas. Sarah was said to be a lady tailor who made uniforms for soldiers. This is unconfirmed. Another note says she had one child in 1843, who obviously was GWI Call. Sarah died of cancer. There is disagreement about who is shown in a photograph. Some say it is GWI and Mary Jane Call and others say it is Alexander and Sarah Ann Call. Sarah and Alexander celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary on 19 March 1893 in Achilles, Rawlins County, Kansas.6 Alice Call asked Sarah to write an entry in her autograph book in May 1893 in Achilles, Rawlins County, Kansas.7 In June 1895 Sarah died at age 73 in Achilles, Rawlins County, Kansas, leaving Alexander as a widower. Sarah was buried in Achilles Cemetery in Achilles, Rawlins County, Kansas.8,9

James Call (M)

![]() Major James Call James was born in 1827 in Pennsylvania. He was the son of Grandfer Call. James married Elizabeth N. Call on 20 February 1860 in Grant County, Wisconsin.1 He began military service in April 1861 in Iowa with the 3rd Regiment of Iowa Infrantry.2 He was ill with rheumatism in 1863 in Palmyra, Marion County, Missouri.3 He ended military service on 26 June 1863 in Missouri.4 He began military service a second time on 14 September 1864 in Iowa in Company L, 5th Iowa Voluntary Infantry Cavalry as a paid substitute for someone who chose not to serve.4,5 He ended military service in August 1865 in Missouri.2 James and Elizabeth lived in 1876 in Ouray, Ouray County, Colorado.6 James was appointed to be on the first Ouray County Commission board on 4 October 1876 in Ouray, Ouray County, Colorado.7,8 James was a hotel proprietor in 1877 in Ouray, Ouray County, Colorado.8 On 25 May 1887 James was granted a disability pension of $10 per month for injury to right knee and rheumatism acquired during Civil War and pension check apparently was sent to Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.9 James and Elizabeth lived in May 1890 in Centinela, Los Angeles County, California.10 James and Elizabeth lived in November 1891 at 127 North Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.11 James' disability pension rate was increased to $20 per month on 11 May 1892 while living at 502 Downey Avenue, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.4 On 3 August 1895 James died in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, leaving Elizabeth as a widow.12,13 James was buried on 5 August 1895 in Evergreen Cemetery in 204 N.
